Submit fingerprints to the FBI for an Identity History Summary Check. You can submit electronically through an FBI-approved channeler for faster processing, or mail a physical fingerprint card (FD-258) directly to the FBI.
Send your FBI background check to the US Department of State for apostille authentication. This certifies the document for international use under the Hague Convention.
Get your bachelor's degree apostilled by the Secretary of State in the state where your university is located. Some states delegate this to the Governor's office.
Gather all remaining documents required for the E-2 visa application: passport photos, health certificate, transcripts, and TEFL/TESOL certificate.
Your Korean employer applies for a Visa Issuance Number through Korean Immigration on your behalf. Once approved, they will send you the VIN via email.
Visit your nearest Korean embassy or consulate with the VIN and all original documents to apply for the E-2 visa stamp in your passport.
After arriving in Korea, you must apply for your Alien Registration Card (ARC) at your local immigration office within 90 days. Your employer will typically assist with this process.
